Tahoe City, Calif. — Tahoe City Downtown Association invites visitors and residents to experience winter in a new way with the launch of 2nd Friday Starlight Strolls, a new monthly event series held on the second Friday of each month from January to April 2026. Stroll dates are Jan. 9, Feb. 13, March 13, and April 10, offering festive, walkable days and nights to explore, sip, shop, dine and play in Tahoe City, the West Shore and Alpine Meadows.

The series kicks off on Friday, Jan. 9, with Shop, Sip & Solve, an interactive scavenger-style experience that takes participants on a tour of Old Tahoe City through historic locations, local businesses, and beloved community landmarks. Participants will check in at specific locations, scan QR codes, answer questions, and earn points throughout the day for chances to win prizes.

The scavenger hunt sign-up link will go live at 6 a.m. on Jan. 9, with scavenging open until midnight, giving participants all day to earn points. Points can be earned by answering questions, shopping, dining, visiting attractions, uploading photos, and sharing experiences. Participants can join as much or as little as they like — whether completing scavenger questions or simply supporting local businesses through purchases.

Starlight Strolls 2nd Fridays by Tahoe City Downtown Association

The Shop, Sip & Solve experience highlights Tahoe City’s rich history and character through fun, place-based questions such as locating historic buildings, landmarks, murals, and gathering places, as well as engaging with restaurants, bars, museums, and recreation sites. Bonus points are available for uploading receipts, tagging @VisitTahoeCity, participating in activities, and sharing photos.

Each 2nd Friday Starlight Stroll features a new theme. February’s theme will be Galentine’s Day.

Throughout the Starlight Strolls, many retailers will stay open later with special deals, unique gifts, and local surprises. Winter lights, live music, and cozy seasonal menus will create a warm and inviting atmosphere at local restaurants, bars and shops. Getting around is easy with free TART Connect rides.

“Starlight Strolls are about celebrating community, supporting small businesses, and giving people a reason to explore Tahoe City and the West Shore during the winter,” said Katherine Hill, executive director of the Tahoe City Downtown Association.
