Precipitation continues to spread inland through tonight with snow levels above 8,000 feet. Brief break Friday morning before next round moves in bringing additional moderate to heavy precipitation, urban and small stream flooding concerns, gusty southerly winds, and isolated thunderstorms Friday afternoon through the weekend. Snow levels lower to the passes late Friday, mountain travel impacts expected over the weekend from moderate to heavy mountain snow and gusty winds. Active weather continues into early next week with additional rain and mountain snow.

Moderate rain may lead to roadway ponding, rises on mainstem rivers, and minor nuisance flooding of poor drainage areas, creating difficult commute conditions and slick roads. No burn scar concerns at this time.

Snow levels above 8,000 feet, lowering to 6000 to 7,500 feet on Friday. Light snow accumulations today, mainly on the highest peaks south of Hwy-50.

Heaviest rain rates expected Friday Afternoon – Sunday. Highest rainfall totals currently forecast along the Sierra and Shasta County mountains and in the northern Sacramento Valley.

Snow levels lowering to 5000 to 6000 feet Saturday night into Sunday. Heaviest snow accumulations Saturday through Monday afternoon. Continued, more light to moderate snow next Tuesday and Wednesday.
