Para-Sight Records Sampler Concert Brings Cousin Cricket and Friends to the Nevada Theatre

Nevada City, CA — Para-Sight Records presents a special night of original roots-driven, artist-centered music with the Para-Sight Records Sampler Concert, featuring Cousin Cricket, Norman Collins & the Tumblers, and Peter Wilson, on Friday, January 30 at 7:30pm at the historic Nevada Theatre in downtown Nevada City, California. Tickets are $20 General Admission and $30 Reserved Seating.

At the heart of the evening is Cousin Cricket, Northern California’s premier Western Swing ensemble and one of the region’s most enduring crowd favorites. Blending bluegrass, country, jazz, and classic swing, Cousin Cricket delivers a sound that is both deeply rooted and joyfully contemporary. Based in Nevada County, the band proudly counts multiple members in the Western Swing Hall of Fame, and their live performances are known for tight arrangements, warm harmonies, and irresistible dance-floor energy.

The Cousin Cricket lineup includes Hall of Fame inductees Ken Miele, Doug Cohen, Joe Ybarra and Paul Kraushaar, joined by guitarist Bob Woods, vocalists Christi Colombo and Heidi Grass. With decades of experience playing clubs, festivals, and theaters Cousin Cricket has built a loyal following. Recent releases such as “Roadside Café” and “Kitty” highlight the band’s continued commitment to swinging, roots-inflected Americana for today’s audiences.

Sharing the bill is Norman Collins & the Tumblers, led by veteran songwriter and guitarist Norman Collins, whose career includes work at Nashville’s legendary RCA Studio B and a long association with Chess Records. Collins has toured extensively, both as a frontman and supporting artist, with credits alongside Jimmy Buffett, Hank Ballard, John Hiatt, and other nationally known acts. His music brings a seasoned, road-tested authenticity to the evening.

Rounding out the concert is Peter Wilson, an award-winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist performing music from his upcoming Para-Sight Records release PeterWilsonWorld. A member of the Deadbeats and a founding contributor to 1000 Kisses Deep – The Songs of Leonard Cohen, Wilson draws from decades of songwriting, touring, and collaboration. He will be joined by legendary guitarist John Girton for a set rooted in classic songwriting and vintage rock and roll. 

The Para-Sight Records Sampler Concert is a celebration of independent, grassroots music — real people playing real instruments — and a showcase of artists whose current and upcoming releases were recorded at PSR Recording Studio. Presented in collaboration with Paul Emery Music, the evening follows in the tradition of multi-artist showcases that bring varied genres together on one stage, promising a rich and memorable concert experience.
