GRASS VALLEY, Calif. – Your time and talent help keep the music alive in our community! Music in the Mountains (MIM) invites you to join our dedicated volunteer team and become part of the magic that happens behind the scenes of our concerts and events. This is your opportunity to learn more about volunteering with Music in the Mountains by attending our upcoming Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, February 26, 2026 at 5:30 pm, held at the Music in the Mountains office at 465 S Auburn Street in Grass Valley, across from Silver Springs High School.
For more than 40 years, Music in the Mountains has been producing high-quality concerts and music education programs throughout Nevada County. At the heart of this success is a vibrant and welcoming volunteer community made up of people just like you—music lovers, supporters of the arts, and neighbors who want to make a meaningful difference!
“When my singing days were ended by a medical issue, I found a way to stay in touch with MIM by volunteering to usher or work at office tasks,” explains chorus alum Chris Kane. “And I made some new friends too. It’s a wonderful way to continue to contribute to the art and music scene in Nevada County.”
All levels of participation are welcome, and no prior experience is required. Volunteer opportunities span a wide range of interests and skills, including helping in the office, setting up venues, selling tickets and concessions, ushering, and assisting with post-concert clean-up. Training is provided, and assignments are thoughtfully matched to your interests and availability. “I appreciate that our talents are taken into consideration when assignments are presented,” notes Grass Valley volunteer Peggy Davis. “I have volunteered for many groups over the years, but I have never felt more welcome and appreciated than working with Music in the Mountains.” Music in the Mountains welcomes volunteers of all backgrounds. Volunteer hours are flexible and vary based on interest and assignment.
