NEVADA CITY, CA – We could all use a good laugh these days, which is why Sierra Theatre Company is thrilled to announce our upcoming production of The Odd Couple: Female Version! Part of our popular Theater by the Book season, Neil Simon’s hilariously reworked comedy will be performed as a staged reading, one night only, on Wednesday, March 25 at the historic Nevada Theatre.
Originally adapted by Simon himself in 1985, The Odd Couple: Female Version transforms the classic battle of the neat freak versus the slob into a sharp, uproariously funny portrait of female friendship. Florence Unger—neurotic, weepy, and endearingly impossible—moves in with the supremely laid-back Olive Madison, and chaos ensues. What unfolds is a masterclass in comic timing, heartfelt rapport, and the enduring comedic genius of Neil Simon.
“The Odd Couple: Female Version is ridiculously fun,” says director Casey Burke. “It’s a play that audiences have adored for decades, and when you swap women into the traditional male roles of Felix and Oscar, the comedy ratchets up in wonderfully unexpected ways.” The production features an all-star local cast with Heidi Grass as Florence Unger and Hilary Quinn as Olive Madison, Chase Coney, Ariel Elliott, Harrison McCormick, Tracie Nickle, Nadia White, Alexis Zendejas rounding out the ensemble.
