Grass Valley, CA – Nevada County community members interested in a wonderful volunteer experience are warmly invited to join Foothills Compassionate Care (FCC) at their upcoming Volunteer Orientation on Monday, April 13th.

The organization maintains a volunteer program made up of local community members and welcomes all people. From helping in the office or the thrift stores, to caregiver respite or providing support through the spiritual care program, there are opportunities for all levels of expertise and areas of interest.

“Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission at Foothills Compassionate Care,” remarks Volunteer Coordinator Meredith Melgar. “With more than 200 people giving their time in roles that span far beyond patient care, our volunteer program offers meaningful opportunities for all skill levels and interests. If you’ve been looking for a way to give back, this is your moment. There’s a place for every person who wants to volunteer here.”
As the only nonprofit hospice provider in our community, Foothills Compassionate Care is dedicated to delivering compassionate, community-centered care that prioritizes the dignity and comfort of every individual. Volunteers may choose to give their time and the hours may vary depending on interest or assignment. No previous experience is necessary, and the team offers additional instruction for specialized services. Training and guidance will be provided.
“We offer a comprehensive group orientation for volunteers so that they have a sense of community and know what to expect while volunteering with Foothills Compassionate Care,” says Executive Director Heidi Wingo. “Our commitment to providing exceptional care and support, extends to our entire volunteer team. We offer a welcoming experience that allows our volunteers to feel well trained.” Heidi adds, “Friendship and laughter are optional but regularly occur.”
The free orientation is scheduled for Monday, April 13th at 8:30am-2:30pm at the Foothills Compassionate Care office located at 11270 Rough & Ready Highway in Grass Valley, across from Yuba River Charter school. Some roles are offered further training dates that week Tuesday-Friday April 14th-17th 8:30am-12:20pm with an optional potluck on Wednesday, April 15th at 1pm.
The Volunteer Orientation is for all interested community members who want to get more involved with the organization.
