A warm spring coupled with a mild winter have many locals concerned about drought and water availability as we head towards summer. NID’s Executive Director Jennifer Hanson will be the invited guest at this month’s free Community Forum to be held on Friday, April 17th from 10:30-11:30 a.m.. This live, one-hour discussion will be held at the Sierra College-Nevada County Campus in the auditorium of Building N-12.

“I also believe we need to chat about NID’s proposed rate increases,” said retired Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Terry McAteer who will moderate the discussion. NID has recently proposed increasing water rates over a five year period.

McAteer said that with recent water infrastructure failures in Yuba and El Dorado County that this important topic will occupy some of the discussion. “This appears to be an upcoming hot Summer and much of NID’s water delivery systems are in jeopardy of wildfire and we want to discuss what plans NID has in store to protect their infrastructure.”

Sponsored by the Sierra College-Nevada County Campus Foundation, the Community Forum hosts hour-long, in-depth informational events several times each year, presenting local issues and topics of interest to both our community and neighboring counties.

The moderator of each session reserves time for guests in the audience to pose questions directly to the guest speaker.

Each of these speaker series is free and open to the public. Free parking is provided on campus and directional signs direct guests where to park and how to access the Building N-12 auditorium.
