Nevada City Calif. – Monday, May 18 is the deadline to register to vote in the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election.

Registering by the deadline helps ensure a more convenient voting experience. Those who miss the deadline may still vote through same-day registration (conditional voter registration) at a vote center, but this process requires additional review steps.

“Meeting the registration deadline gives you more time to review your ballot, make informed choices and return it at your convenience, rather than having to vote under time pressure,” said Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz. “It makes the process smoother for you and election staff.”

Voters can register online at registertovote.ca.gov. To check your voter registration record, visit voterstatus.sos.ca.gov.

Voting is underway now. Ballots were mailed May 4 to all registered voters and may be returned immediately.  For Nevada County vote center locations, visit www.NevadaCountyCa.gov/votehere or www.NevadaCountyCa.gov/votemap. Track your ballot at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov.
