NEVADA CITY, CA May 15, 2026 — Due to unforeseen circumstances, Roki Gilroy will no longer be able to perform at this year’s Sierra Streams Fest.

We are excited to welcome Juliet Gobert to the festival lineup alongside the Jessica Malone Band for what promises to be a memorable evening of live music, science, and community celebration.

This Saturday, May 16 from 1pm to 5pm, Sierra Streams 30th Anniversary Science Fest will transform Pioneer Park into an outdoor hub of discovery, where families, students, and community members can explore interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity about the natural world.

There will be several Interactive science exhibitions—including a flowing stream table and science activity stations—will help everyone to understand how watersheds function and why protecting them is essential for both environmental and community health.

From Sam Bell, Festival Coordinator, “The stream table demonstrates the effect streams and us have on the environment. It allows us to see directly what happens when we manipulate the environment. For example when we add a dam to our stream table we can see how that changes the watershed. We can also demonstrate the effects of erosion by showing how erosion can expose tree roots. Understanding stream flow helps us take a holistic approach to restoration such as the work we are doing at Dry Creek port dam removal.”

The event is free and open to the public, making it accessible to families and community members of all ages. Our community will have the opportunity to meet local scientists, explore interactive exhibits, enjoy music and art, and learn how community science helps protect the Sierra Nevada’s rivers and forests.

Are you a scientist?

By bringing together science, creativity, and community engagement, the event aims to inspire a shared commitment to protecting the region’s natural resources for future generations.
