NEVADA CITY, Calif. (May 19, 2026) – After being recognized among the top three for the fifth consecutive year in the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice awards for “Best RV Campground (2026),” Nevada City’s Inn Town Campground is marking another significant milestone as it transitions into a new era with new owners.

When they created the wildly popular campground from the ground up, founders Dan and Erin Thiem did so with the plan that they would hand off ownership of the campground and stewardship of the land to someone else after 10 years. Their belief was—and is—that to thrive, businesses need to infuse “new energy” over time to continue to flourish. With their hand-selection of the campground’s new owners, Overland Collective, the Thiems have fulfilled their values-based mission and are ushering in a new era for the Inn Town Campground.
“We’ve always considered our time at the Inn Town Campground to be a tremendous opportunity to steward both the land and experience provided to guests and our community,” said Dan and Erin Thiem. “Bringing this dream to life over the past decade has truly been one of the great privileges of our lives. As we pursue our next adventure and turn the campground over to the Overland Collective team, we’re confident they’re the right folks to continue building on the experience campers have come to love.”

Monica Tiscornia, Vance Lancaster, Bobby Souza and Trisha Rogers comprise the Overland Collective team, bringing together complementary backgrounds in hospitality, operations, and community-focused development. In preparation for the transition, the team has been working closely with the Thiems and the campground’s staff, with plans to keep the entire current staff on through the ownership change and ensure no disruption in operations.
“Erin and Dan built something extraordinary—both in terms of the campground itself and their team—and that’s why the Inn Town Campground has the nationally recognized reputation it does,” said Monica Tiscornia, CEO of Overland Collective. “We’re excited to continue with the incredible staff and intend to listen and observe. We want to understand where there are natural opportunities to collaborate more deeply with local businesses and the community, and to create even more unique experiences for families and campers in the future.”

Overland Collective has no immediate changes planned for the park or the experience, noting their commitment to maintaining the same team, standards and attention to detail.
“We’re carrying the torch, not redirecting it,” said Bobby Souza, CIO of Overland Collective. “Any future enhancements will be thoughtful, grounded in what we learn, and rooted in the character of the park Erin and Dan have built.”
Located just under two miles from downtown Nevada City, the Inn Town Campground is within walking distance to unique experiences like the Nevada City Farmers Market, plus shops and restaurants in town. Outdoor recreationalists enjoy the campground’s convenient access to hikes along the South Yuba River, the Empire Mine Historic State Park, mountain biking on the growing trail network in the Tahoe National Forest, Spenceville Wildlife, and more.
