Nevada City Calif. – Tuesday, June 2 is Election Day, but voting is underway now.
Ballots for the Statewide Direct Primary Election may be returned in the mail (postage paid), in one of 17 official ballot drop boxes or at a vote center. Two vote centers are open daily now with seven more opening on a staggered schedule beginning Saturday, May 30. For locations and hours, visit www.NevadaCountyCa.gov/votehere. Track your ballot at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov.
Another option is “Sign, Scan and Go.” Voters can fill out their ballot at home, then bring it to a vote center and scan it themselves — allowing them to personally see that their ballot has been received and recorded.
Those who choose to return their ballot by mail are urged to do so by Friday, May 29 at the latest to ensure that their ballot is counted. Only ballots postmarked by June 2 will be counted. To ensure that your ballot is postmarked on time, consider going in the post office to get it hand-stamped.
On the ballot are federal, state and local races, including candidates for governor and other statewide offices, U.S. House of Representatives, state Senate and Assembly, and county and city positions. The ballot also features three local measures focused on school bonds and a road tax renewal. Learn more at www.NevadaCountyCa.gov/June2Election.
