Lake of the Pines, CA — Rachel Rosenthal, current Trustee for Area 6 on the Sierra College Board of Trustees, announced her candidacy for reelection in the November 2026 general election.
Rosenthal has more than 25 years of experience in California community colleges, including serving as President of Folsom Lake College and Vice President of Instruction at Sierra College. She also currently serves on the statewide California Community College Trustees board.
Her campaign and current emphasis as a Trustee focus on building on Sierra College’s strong academic and career education programs, responsible stewardship of district resources, workforce partnerships with local businesses, and continued support for the Nevada County Campus.
“I began my career as a community college mathematics instructor because I believed in the mission of community colleges and their ability to change lives,” Rosenthal said. “As Trustee, I want to ensure Sierra College continues providing students with affordable, high-quality educational opportunities that prepare them for successful careers.”
A long-time Lake of the Pines resident, Rosenthal and her husband previously owned Tess’ Kitchen Store in Grass Valley. She is also a long-time volunteer puppy raiser and breeder-caretaker for Canine Companions, which provides trained service dogs to people with disabilities.
Rosenthal holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership, a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of California, Davis, and a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Sacramento. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.
