NEVADA CITY, Calif. August 12, 2026 – Today at 5:00 pm, the extended filing period for local races where incumbents did not file came to a close.
A randomized alphabet drawing to determine the order of some candidate names on the ballot for the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Nevada County Elections Office, 950 Maidu Ave., Suite 210, Nevada City. The public is invited to attend. It will determine the order of state Senate and Assembly candidates on the ballot. It will also be livestreamed on the Nevada County Elections Facebook page. The California Secretary of State’s Office will conduct a randomized alphabet drawing at Aug. 13 at 11 a.m. to determine the order of all other candidate names. This includes statewide contests, state Board of Equalization, U.S. representatives in Congress, county offices; city, school and special district offices.
