The California State Board of Equalization (BOE) will host its 2026 Taxpayers’ Bill of Rights Hearing on August 26, providing taxpayers with an opportunity to share feedback, comments, and concerns directly with elected members of the Board of Equalization regarding California’s property tax system and the Alcoholic Beverage Tax.

California State Board of Equalization 2026 Taxpayers' Bill of Rights Hearing — share ideas on Property Taxes and Alcoholic Beverage Tax

The hearing provides taxpayers with an opportunity to raise questions and share experiences about property taxation, including issues such as property assessments, property tax bills, appeals, tax relief programs, and more. Public participation helps the Board of Equalization hear directly from taxpayers about issues affecting them and identify areas where additional guidance, education, or changes to the property tax system may be needed.

Assessor Rolf Kleinhans and the Nevada County Assessor’s Office are sharing this information to help property owners become aware of this opportunity to participate in statewide discussions related to property taxation. The hearing is hosted and administered independently by the Board of Equalization and is not conducted by county assessor offices.
