GRASS VALLEY, CA – Book lovers and food enthusiasts are invited to join BriarPatch Food Co-op on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Read It & Eat, a free community event that brings together great books, local food and support for Nevada County libraries.

Briarpatch Food Co-op presents Read It and Eat, A Book Pop-Up Event, with illustrated eggplant, broccoli, and tomato characters reading books atop a book stack

Guests can browse a wide selection of gently used books available at pay-what-you-can pricing, with all proceeds benefiting Friends of Nevada County Libraries and supporting local library programs. In addition to the book sale, attendees can sample products from a variety of local brands.

Representatives from the Nevada County Library will also be on site to help community members sign up for a free library card. Those interested in obtaining a card should bring a photo ID and proof of address. Library cards provide access to books, digital resources, educational materials and programs offered through the Nevada County Library system.

Read It & Eat brings together two beloved pastimes, discovering a great book and enjoying local food, while supporting library services that help strengthen the community.

Guests are invited to come for the samples, explore the book sale and leave with a new favorite read and a tasty new discovery.
