The event is scheduled 4-7 p.m. at the Ballot Processing Center in the Loma Rica Warehouse, 12740 Loma Rica Drive near the Nevada County Airport.

The open house offers an opportunity for the public to see exactly what happens to a ballot after it is cast โ€” from intake to counting โ€” ahead of the Nov. 3, 2026 General Election.

Visitors will be able to:

  • Meet the dedicated staff who make the election happen and celebrate โ€œElection Hero Dayโ€
  • See how vote-by-mail ballots are received and processed
  • Learn how signatures are verified to protect each voterโ€™s ballot
  • Observe how ballots are scanned and counted using secure systems
  • Get a preview of how election night results are reported
  • Ask questions and learn more about voter registration, voting options and key election dates
  • Register to vote and vote in person if desired (before 5 p.m.)
  • Return voted ballots in the official drop box

โ€œMost voters never get to see what happens behind the scenes of an election,โ€ said Registrar of Voters Armando Salud-Ambriz. โ€œThis is an opportunity to learn more about the safeguards, procedures and people behind the process and to ask questions.โ€
