NEVADA CITY, CA โ The City of Nevada City is inviting community members to help shape the future of walking, biking, and trails through its new Active Transportation and Trails Plan. An online community survey is now open through November 24, 2026, and a Community Workshop is scheduled for November 12. Community members are encouraged to share their experiences, concerns, and ideas for improving bicycle and pedestrian connections throughout Nevada City.

Funded by Caltransโ Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant through SB1, the City is working with Alta Planning + Design to develop the plan, which will guide future improvements to sidewalks, bikeways, trails, streets, and crossings, with the goal of making it safer, easier, and more enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities to get around town without relying on a car.
Nevada City’s historic streets, hilly terrain, and trail network present unique opportunities and challenges. The planning process will explore creative solutions to improve safety and accessibility, connect neighborhoods with schools, parks, downtown, and surrounding communities, and make it easier to walk, bike, and access local trails.
Community members are encouraged to get involved in two main ways during this first phase of the project:
- Take the Community Survey: Available now through November 24 at www.nevadacityca.gov/activetransportation. Share where you walk, bike, or travel, what challenges you encounter, and which improvements matter most to you.
- Attend the Community Workshop: Thursday, November 12, from 4:30 to 6:15 p.m. at the Miners Foundry Cultural Center. Learn about the project, share your experiences, and help identify priorities for the future.
Community feedback will help the City identify gaps in the existing transportation and trail networks and develop a prioritized list of projects, programs, and potential funding opportunities.
