Sacramento, Calif. – Today, the U.S. Supreme Court denied the Trump Administration’s eleventh-hour effort to continue its unlawful and unconstitutional interference with California’s November 3, 2026 election. The Court denied, without any noted dissent, the federal government’s request for an injunction while it continues to pursue its Ninth Circuit appeal.

On October 30, 2026, the Ninth Circuit declined the government’s invitation to ignore the Constitution, violate the National Voter Registration Act, and potentially disenfranchise voters.

“While this fight is far from over, today’s order means that millions of Californians can focus on the most important task at hand — casting their ballot,” said California Secretary of State Shirley N. Weber, Ph.D. “The time to vote is now!”

The Office of the California Secretary of State, alongside a legion of dedicated election workers, will continue to administer safe and secure elections and ensure that every eligible voter will have their voice heard.
