  1. When do we get a MAP posted ? Extremely DRY -travels fast – so Please we all need to Know in order to prepare to leave, should it be necessary later on…
    Thank you YubaNet!!!

    1. The fire is not even an hour old, we have a map up and what else do you want? Instant gratification much?!

  2. My dear Yubanet (you know who you are!). Thank you for all you do and it’s long overdue to have a cocktail or two…..

  3. Thank you for the information you do have. I heard about it through the grapevine that evacuations had been ordered, and yours was the first site I went to. Your information was more than I could find elsewhere! Thank you!

  4. People get scared especially with how bad the fires have been. Maybe try to show a little compassion when responding especially since this community stepped up big time for you when you were in distress. We all know you are busy informing the community and we appreciate all you do but your reply was unneeded. ✌ A firefighter’s Wife.

    1. The reply to that particular individual is a response to a lot of harassing posts and emails. It is not out of the blue, but rather the product of years of unnerving communications. I apologize to everyone else.

    2. Perhaps the poster who demanded an immediate map should show a little compassion to the hard-working people at YubaNet, The people at YubaNet KNOW that people are scared. I and thousands of others are indebted to their tireless work to get the news out to the people. They are human, and they don’t need to be a doormat to rude people.

    3. 5. Thanks you for your hard work, Evertone involved in managing fires including evacuations. Our family is very grateful.

  6. I’m a bit confused. Is the Sliger Fire the one by Drivers Flat or the one by Georgetown? We are watching aerial support on Drivers Flat. I don’t think we can see Georgetown fire.
As always, thank you for being first responders and keeping us posted!

    1. Yes, the Sliger Fire was first reported as being on Foresthill Road near Drivers Flat. It is the same fire.

  7. Love the work you do. YubaNet is the first place I go when I smell smoke or hear about a fire. The best info out there.
    Please keep it up.

    1. That’s quite a ways, over 6 miles I would guesstimate and the fire is burning away from Greenwood

  8. Thank you YubaNet! I’m at work and live in Cool and this site allows me to follow the situation. I appreciate all you do to keep us informed!

    1. Caltrans has the following: PER 283 CLOSED FORESTHILL AT MORSHIRON RD
Sep 4 2018 3:38PM [1] CP – 2ND TURN OUT ON FORESTHILL RD ON DRIVERS FLAT

  9. Thank you for the info on what VLAT stands for. My husband and I were trying to figure it out. How easy it was. Thank you so much for keeping us up to date on all the fires around us. You’re awesome.

  10. thank you for great coverage. We’re long term subscribers and always go to your site first for local news.

  11. Hang in there ladies! I can’t imagine the stress you must have during fire season. We appreciate everything you do! If there’s anything you need let me know……ice cream delivery, wine, chocolate, margaritas….,,,or maybe some Excedrin Migraine. 😉

  12. Live off McKeon Ponderosa. Smokey but quite now. We are on advisory evac. Had some ashes earlier. Keeping up with sheriff scanners an app you install on your cell phone and put in placer county sheriff and fire. Packed and ready to leave but they are working on it and since the first calls to evac. all is quite now. Will be a long night.

  13. Yubanet has always been our go-to for accurate, timely info on local (and distant) fire info (20 years in the foothills now). Even my mom in the Bay Area refers to Yubanet for any fire that is in our area. Thank you for all you do! (Subscribe, people!)

  14. Thanks for your great coverage!
When you say “right flank”….is this south or north or ? I’m confused.

  15. Does anyone know what or where the decision point is when they will decide to make evacuate sliger mine mandatory?

    1. Decision points are based on fire behavior, wind, relative humidity, available resources, public safety, firefighter safety. It’s a complex matrix and no, we don’t have this specific one. You will be notified by EDSO deputies if mandatory evacuations are being triggered, but if you feel the need to leave don’t wait to be told – just do it. Hope this helps.

    1. What are your comparison criteria? Location, size, burn severity, cost? It’s really impossible to compare at this point, each fire is unique.

  16. Thanks for being there.I evacuated from Sky View Terrace M. H. P. on a reccommended, but not mandatory evacuated by PCSO traveling through our park. We are staying with friends in Grass Valley and the news is not covering this story. Thanks again. Your information is calming..

  17. Its currently 1:05pm wonder how the fire is doing at this time can anyone let me know thank you so much awesome site but a bit scared honestly as we all are being so darn close to the homes I know our Firefighters are Awesome and always are But these fires are so so Bad and Sad to say the Least… Prayers going out to Our firefighters and People that are helping with yet all the fires going on God has his hands on all Amen UP Date Please TY

    1. No updates are actually good news. The firefighters are doing a superb job and putting in line. As soon as there’s a new development, we will post of course.

  18. Still off Mc Keon Ponderosa, stiil packed and ready. Smokey, light winds, fire trucks have been driving around. Told it hasn’t jumped the river yet…so we wait. So far all of Foresthill is well but concerned. Hear some helicopters…in the canyon working. And now a spotting plane is back.

  19. Thanks to YubaNet for accurate information and frequent updates. You are my first go-to for fire reports. I can only imagine the loads of information, research and responding to the public that you have to deal with. When our lives, everything we’ve worked so long and hard for is under the threat of complete destruction, it’s frightening. Good and timely information is a huge help. So, thank you all!

  20. Please share any updated info from the meeting. My parents were not aware of the meeting and did not attend. Wish there had been a robo-call or mass text about it. Thanks for all you are doing at YubaNet to keep people informed!

  21. I just moved to the area and am so thankful to have this website shared to me from my neighbors. Thank you for keeping us updated on the progress and what’s going on!! Very grateful! Truly!!
