The fire is being managed as a Type 4 incident being managed from the Covelo Ranger District office under the command of Shannon Banks. The fire is at 244 acres and 90% containment.

Crews raised containment on the Henthorne Fire to 85 percent Thursday. The fire started Sept. 5 approximately 15 miles northeast of Covelo. The Henthorne Fire is estimated at 244 acres.
The fire has stopped spreading and is mostly creeping and smoldering. There are 81 resources assigned to the incident including two crews, three engines and three water tenders. Crews are focused on improving firelines and implementing suppression repair activities.
Warmer and drier conditions are expected for the next few days with light winds. This will be the final news release for the Henthorne Fire unless significant activity occurs.

Very steep ground, fire weakened trees, narrow roads, long drive times to fire’s edge, threatens the safety of the responders.
The fire is currently burning in the BLM and Yolla Bolla wilderness areas and Northern spotted owl habitat. Smoke is a concern to the local community of Covalo and potentially impacting tourism.

Crews on the Henthorne Fire continue to improve firelines and increase containment on the fire. The fire is at 244 acres and 35 percent containment. Crews are working in steep, rugged terrain on the fire 15 miles northeast of Covelo.
Incident Commander Tony Arendt said, “We thank all of the resources that are assisting with the management of this incident. The interagency cooperation has been outstanding.”
The fire has stopped spreading and is mostly creeping and smoldering. There are 304 federal, state, local and private resources assigned to the incident including 17 engines, eight crews, one helicopter, two dozers and seven water tenders. As containment of the fire increases and the remaining work decreases, crews are being released to return home to prepare for their next assignment.
Incident personnel expect warmer conditions mid-week with the temperature in the high 60s and light wind.

Minimal fire behavior observed today. Crews continue mop up and repair operations. The fire is being managed under unified command between the USFS and CALFIRE.

The Henthorne Fire remained at 15 percent contained Sunday evening. The size of the fire was adjusted to 237 acres after crews completed a precise assessment of the perimeter. The fire is located 15 miles northeast of Covelo. The Henthorne Fire is a US Forest Service incident that is being managed under unified command by the Mendocino National Forest and CAL FIRE.
The fire has stopped spreading and is mostly creeping and smoldering. There are 475 resources assigned to the incident including 38 engines, nine crews, two helicopters, two dozers and eight water tenders. Crews are focused on reinforcing firelines and extinguishing burning vegetation near the containment lines.
Personnel on the incident expect cooler conditions early next week with the temperature in the 60s and light wind.

Crews have constructed handline around the fire. On Sunday, personnel will focus on reinforcing containment lines, removing hazard trees and mopping up.

The Henthorne Fire (previously called the 1-1 Fire) started Thursday, Sept. 5 approximately 15 miles northeast of Covelo in Trinity County. The fire is being managed under Unified Command by the Mendocino National Forest and CAL FIRE. The Henthorne is estimated at 291 acres and five percent contained.
There are 329 resources on the incident including 11 crews, 24 engines, four helicopters, five dozers and eight water tenders. Crews are working in remote, steep, rugged terrain with limited access into the fire area.
Observed fire behavior includes torching and spotting through heavy dead and down timber and brush. The fire is spreading westerly toward state land.
The forecast shows a cooling trend over the weekend with the potential for breezy southerly winds.
Continued efforts will be made throughout tonight and into tomorrow. The expected containment date is September 14th, 2019.
At this time, there is no threat to structures or civilians
