All roads are open, however, be advised that all roads in the fire area are private roads. Any public access should be limited to those with official business in the area.
Tuesday is expected to be sunny and warm with temperatures from 80-85 degrees, minimum humidity of 20-25%, and north winds of 3-6 MPH.
BURN BAN REMINDER: Due to critical weather conditions and fire activity, all Bay Area CAL FIRE Units, including the San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit implemented a burn suspension banning all outdoor burning as of October 13, 2017. This order is made under the authority vested by the Director of the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection as per section 4423.1 of the Public Resources Code.

The evacuation orders that remain in place for the fire area will be lifted at 8:00 a.m. on Monday 10/23/17

Firefighters continue to reinforce containment lines around the fire and mop up the fire area. Fireline suppression repair activities are underway and may cause temporary road closures on roads in and around the fire.
A high pressure weather system is building and will bring offshore winds and moderate to poor humidity recovery to the Santa Cruz mountains. Tonight will be much drier as the offshore winds start to develop which will bring gusts to around 30 mph possible overnight.

Crews continue to establish and reinforce containment lines around the fire while personnel assess fire suppression repair needs. Hazards from fire weakened trees and steep inaccessible terrain continue to present major challenges. Increase in acreage is due to better fire perimeter mapping. Today’s temperatures are expected to range between 59-67 degrees, with a minimum humidity of 55-65%. North winds of 5 MPH shifting to the west are expected in the fire area.
Evacuation orders remain for Bear Creek Canyon Road, Deer Creek Road, Rons Road, Dons Road, and their tributary streets in the fire area. Bear Creek Road between Hawk Ridge Road and Hwy 35 is open to residents only.
Bear Fire Evacuation Centers will be open from 10 am to 4 pm as drop-in information centers beginning 10/19/2017 and will remain open every day until evacuations are lifted. If you are an evacuee needing overnight accommodations please call: 1-866-272-2237.

The fire is burning in steep inaccessible terrain covered by drought stressed fuels in heavy timber. Containment efforts have become more effective. Today’s temperatures are expected to range between 61-66 degrees, with minimum humidity of 35-50% throughout the fire area. West winds of 5 MPH are expected today ahead of a front that will bring increasing humidity and a chance of rain later tonight.
Evacuations: Santa Cruz County: Evacuation orders remain for Bear Creek Canyon Road, Deer Creek Road, Rons Road, Dons Road, and their tributary streets in the fire area. Bear Creek Road between Hawk Ridge Road and Hwy 35 will open to residents only at 12:00 PM on 10/19/17.

Evacuation orders have been lifted for the Las Cumbres and Skyline Blvd. communities.
Areas South of Bear Creek Rd.
Evacuation orders have been lifted for areas south of Bear Creek Road such as Hidden
Springs Lane, Moon Rise Road, Mustang Mesa, and Bear Creek Way.
Areas still under Evacuation and Closed Bear Creek Canyon Road, Deer Creek Road, Rons Road, Dons Road, and their tributary streets in the effected fire area will remain closed.
