Range, Kern County. Five miles east of Arvin, CA. Timber, brush and tall grass. Active fire behavior with uphill runs, short-range spotting and flanking. Numerous residences threatened.

One firefighter sustained burns to his hands after falling onto burning material and another strained his back. Both personnel were taken to hospitals for treatment and observation, their respective conditions are unknown at this time.

Evacuation orders to be lifted at 12 noon today.

Firefighters have stopped the forward progression of the fire at an estimated 550 acres. Crews will be working through the night to establish and reinforce containment lines.

Firefighters are in place for structure protection along Deertrail Drive.
The Precautionary Evacuation in place for homes west of El Camino Drive in Bear Valley Springs has been upgraded to a Recommended Evacuation.
A Recommended Evacuation means that the fire is an imminent threat and all persons in the evacuation area are strongly advised to leave and seek shelter away from the fire area. A recommended evacuation will likely be the last warning given.
An Evacuation Center has been set up at the Whiting Center (26940 Bear Valley Road).
