Fire burned actively in steep rugged areas of the fire. Low humidity recoveries are expected tonight. The threat remains to Private ranches and associated structures, Yellow Peak Lookout and the Refuge Guard Station., There is also a threat to the Massacre Rim Wilderness Study Area, prehistoric sites, cultural sites and grazing allotments.

This lightning-caused fire is burning on public rangelands managed by the BLM-California Applegate Field Office and private lands in far northern Washoe County, Nev. It is burning in priority habitat for greater sage-grouse and threatening two ranches. It is burning lands within the Massacre Rim Wilderness Study Area.
The fire was active yesterday on the northeast head, with short range spotting into dry brush and juniper fuels.
Fire is burning priority habitat for greater sage-grouse. Two remote ranches are threatened.
Planned actions: Continue direct and indirect line construction, using existing roads to conduct burnout operations and reinforce existing lines.
