Firefighters will continue to improve, reinforce and secure control lines around the fire.
As of 8 a.m., October 14, all evacuation orders have been lifted resulting from the Sandalwood Fire. However, the Villa Calimesa Mobile Home Park remains uninhabitable and closed due to unsafe conditions. Evacuation Comments: UPDATE: As of 1 p.m. October 12th, evacuations have been lifted for THE AREA NORTH OF the Villa Calimesa Mobile Home Park only. The EVACUATION ORDER REMAINS for the Villa Calimesa Mobile Home Park. Residents must use County Line Rd to return home. There is currently a road closure on 7th Street between Villa Calimesa Rd and Sandalwood Dr. This area is closed. Gas service is currently interrupted for the South Mesa Mobile Home Park. For questions regarding gas restoration, please call 800-427-2200. Please be patient while SoCal Gas quickly and safely reaches each home. If you smell gas, call 9-1-1. CAL FIRE Peace Officers determined the cause of the Sandalwood fire to be a trash truck that dumped a load of burning trash that spread into vegetation.
A shelter opened yesterday at 7:30 P.M. at: Mesa Grande Academy, 975 Fremont Street, Calimesa, CA. Transportation will be provided to current evacuees from the Calimesa Senior Center to Mesa Grande Acedemy by the City of Calimesa.

MANDATORY EVACUATION ORDERS FOR: South of 7th Street, east of County Line Road. A Care and Reception Center is opened at Calimesa Senior Center, 908 Park Avenue in Calimesa.
Reunification for residents and their pets can be done by contacting the Beaumont Police Department at (951) 769-8500 by leaving your name, address, phone number and a description of your pet(s). Your call will be returned. Some of the animals have been taken to the Ramona Animal Shelter. They can also be contacted during normal business hours Saturday from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at (951) 654-8002.
