Minimal fire behavior with interior smoldering. Transition back to the local unit planned for 1000 tomorrow. Record hot and dry weather conditions and rugged topography throughout the fire area are challenging for suppression efforts. Windy conditions are of high concern for fire line personnel and their life safety. A slight cooling trend will continue on Monday and Tuesday, but temperatures will remain at dangerous levels. Therefore, the EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING will remain in effect through Tuesday evening.

Firefighters continue to strengthen containment and control lines. For today, dangerous heat will continue across the incident. Afternoon temperatures will climb into the 104-112 range. Therefore, an EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING remains in effect. Relative humidity will decrease in the lower to middle teens, with even some single-digit humidity possible. Typical diurnal winds will prevail with southwesterly winds, gusting 10 to 15 MPH, this afternoon and evening. The hot and dry conditions will continue through Sunday and early next week.

Structures, powerlines, Lake Oroville Dam, State Highway 162, historical and cultural resources are threatened. CAL FIRE Type 1 Incident Management Team 6 (Magana) is in command.

29,000 residents remain evacuated, 4 firefighter injuries reported. Record hot and dry weather conditions and rugged topography throughout the fire area are challenging for suppression efforts. Windy conditions are of high concern for fireline personnel and their life safety.

Critical Infrastructure:
Fire has threatened and impacted the Oroville-Thermalito Complex, which includes the Hyatt Powerplant and Oroville Dam, causing the shutdown of power plant operations. The Oroville-Thermalito Complex serves as the critical infrastructure for water and power storage conveyance to the surrounding communities. It is a key infrastructure of the Department of Water Resources’ State Water Project and includes Lake Oroville, Thermalito Diversion Pool, Thermalito Diversion Dam, Thermalito Diversion Dam Powerplant, Thermalito Power Canal, Thermalito Forebay, Thermalito Pumping-Generating Plant, Thermalito Afterbay, Fish-barrier dam, and the Feather River Fish Hatchery.
- PG&E Transmission line in fire perimeter and surrounding areas and power is shut off to many residents, including those in Kelly Ridge who are elderly and more susceptible to power shut-offs.
- South Feather River Water and Power that provides domestic and irrigation water services to the area.
- CalWATER and Thermalito Irrigation District
- Oroville Municipal Airport and Air quality and visibility may threaten aviation plans.
- Beale Airforce Base, located south of the fire footprint.
- Threats to Highway 70 and Highway 162 corridors affect transportation routes.

- Multiple structures threatened in the communities of Cherokee, Kelly Ridge, and surrounding areas of North and East Oroville.
- Sierra Pacific Industries Private Timberlands threatened.

Grubbs Fire in Butte County is burning right outside the Apache Fire perimeter. Numerous resources at scene, including aircraft from the Thompson Fire. Forward progress has been stopped on the small Hurleton fire as well.

The Butte County Sheriffโs Office is reducing Zones 965A (north of Hwy 162), 817, and 828 in Oroville from Evacuation Orders to EVACUATION WARNINGS. Residents in these areas may return to their homes but are encouraged to stay aware of changing weather and fire conditions.
The Butte County Sheriffโs Office is reducing the area of Percy Way, south to Mount Ida Rd, and Mount Ida Rd from Oro-Bangor Hwy, east to Oakvale Ave in Zone 806 in Oroville from an Evacuation Order to an EVACUATION WARNING. Residents in this area may return to their homes but are encouraged to stay aware of changing weather and fire conditions. The remaining area of Zone 806, north of Percy Way remains under an Evacuation Order.

All tankers are off the fire, helicopters continue water drops. Air Attack reports the drops on Table Mountain are complete and re-energizing the high voltage transmission lines should be safe. Retardant line all the way from Table Mountain down into the gulch.

California State Parks today announced the cancellation of the City of Orovilleโs Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration show tomorrow for public safety. Due to the large evacuations and damages caused by the Thompson Fire, State Parks and partner agencies including CAL FIRE, California Highway Patrol, Butte County Sheriffโs Office, Public Works, and staff from the City of Oroville, have a large number of resources responding to protect the community and get everyone back home as quickly as possible.

Significant augmentation in resources today. 1,438 firefighters assigned. 199 engines, 33 crews, 46 dozers and 49 water tenders. Eight helicopters and numerous tankers are working the fire as well.

California has secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help ensure the availability of vital resources to suppress the fire burning in Butte County.
The fast-moving Thompson Fire ignited earlier today near the community of Kelly Ridge and has forced the evacuation of more than 13,000 people.
The FMAG, which is provided through the Presidentโs Disaster Relief Fund on cost-share basis, will assist local, state and tribal agencies responding to the fire to apply for 75-percent reimbursement of their eligible fire suppression costs.

Sutter County Public Health, Yuba County Public Health, and the Feather River Air Quality Management District are issuing an air quality health advisory due to Wildfire smoke from the Thompson Fire in Oroville. Currently, the Yuba County Foothills is experiencing poor air quality conditions in Oregon House and Dobbins with Air Quality Index (AQI) readings in the unhealthy and very unhealthy range.
Transport smoke from the Thompson Fire has increased smoke particulate concentrations (PM2.5 and PM 10) in Yuba County and may settle into the valley floor overnight. PM2.5 levels are anticipated to remain in the moderate to unhealthy range through tomorrow.
