July 27, 2025 at 2:35 PM Update from Peardale-Chicago Park Fire: Peardale-Chicago Park Fire, CAL FIRE and AMR ambulance responded to a medical rescue on the Bear River, downstream from the Hwy 174 bridge. Peardale-Chicago Park personnel made initial patient contact and helped stabilize a broken leg before the patient was extricated with a wheeled stokes basket by the Placer County Technical Rescue Team. Thank you to all agencies involved for helping get the patient to needed care quickly and safely.

RAP forecast soundings depict inverted-v thermodynamic profiles, suggesting that downbursts in the stronger storm cores may support isolated strong to severe thunderstorm wind gusts through the afternoon and early evening hours.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. If on or near Prosser Creek Reservoir, Stampede Reservoir, or Boca Reservoir, get out of the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
Persons in campgrounds should consider seeking sturdy shelter until this storm passes.

Additionally, at one property on the 15000 block of Siskiyou Ct. in Grass Valley, Chinese-labeled Carbofuran was located on the property on June 19. Carbofuran is an extremely hazardous pesticide banned in the United States due to its toxicity to humans and the environment. In severe cases, it can lead to convulsions, coma, pulmonary edema, muscle paralysis, and death by asphyxiation, according to the National Library of Medicine1.

This burn is in the vicinity of Lake Wildwood, Wildwood West, and surrounding communities. Smoke may be visible broadly during the hours of 8am to 1pm. This is a fuels reduction burn in a mixture of grass and oak woodland vegetation and is part of a larger burn plan encompassing approximately 35 acres on a private property. This is a CalFire permitted burn.
