Minimal fire behavior with creeping and smoldering observed. Structures remain threatened with Evacuation Orders and Warnings in effect. Road closures are in effect. Crews continue to patrol and mop up.

The cause of the fire on Willow Glen Road near the community of Brownsville on Wednesday, August 11th, was the result of a vehicle malfunction. CAL FIRE Investigators have determined that the cause was accidental and have not found any evidence of malicious or suspicious activity related to this fire.

CAL FIRE and local fire resources will continue suppression and mop up operations on the incident until the fire is fully contained and controlled. CAL FIRE and the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office will be working together to reduce road closures and repopulate affected areas as conditions on the incident allow.

Smoke will limit heating as high pressure dominates the fire. Expect diurnal/terrain driven winds for the next couple of days.

Firefighters are working in steep, rugged terrain. A large quantity of standing dead trees and an extremely receptive fuelbed are made for intense burning within the fire perimeter. Hotspots and smoldering trees continue to be found and extinguished.

Multiple dozers are constructing line around the fire which stands at 184 acres and 40% contained.

Hampering containment efforts: Steep rugged terrain, an extremely receptive fuelbed and dry conditions. Large quantity of standing dead trees. Long drive to an from incident on long winding roads.

From Yuba County Sheriff’s Office: Fire Evacuations are in progress south of the town of Brownsville in Yuba County. The grass fire was reported just before 3:30 in the area of 15800 Wllow Glen Rd @ Pineridge Way between Oregon House and Brownsville. The fast moving fire is traveling north/northeast. You can find the zones evacuated at community.zonehaven.com where we are updating evacuation status for the affected areas. Deputies have been doing door to door notifications and evacuations. There is an evacuation center setting up at the Yuba Sutter Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Avenue, in Yuba City (Sutter County). A large animal evacuation center (horse, livestock etc) is set up at the Sheriff’s Posse Arena at 5419 Marysville Rd in Browns Valley.

Willow Glen Rd is closed at Marysville Rd on the south end and Frenchtown Rd on the north end.
