Per CAL FIRE: Today’s Quail Fire off Quail Run and Key Court in Loma Rica (Yuba County) was determined to be caused by the grinding and welding of metal fencing on dry grass. The fire was mapped at 35 acres and is 100%.

Fire is contained, acreage has been revised to 35 acres. Mop-up operations will take several hours.

No evacuations, no structures threatened, no injuries reported. Quail Run Road is closed due to fire activity and equipment on the road. Cause of the fire is under investigation.

Tankers are starting the rotation, Quail Air Attack lining them up. The fire is holding in the current perimeter, one tanker to hold at McClellan. Two additional water tenders on order for the IC.
A Fire Evacuation Warning has gone out for Browns Valley residences in Evacuation Zone YUB-E083 (Quail Run & Peoria Rd area) and Evacuation Advisories are in place for YUB-E064, YUB-E078, and YUB-E066 due to a Wildfire. Deputies are in the area providing notice to residents and a code red alert has gone out.
