September 2, 2020 – Four area Rotary Clubs recognized their members with special awards for their work in community service. Each year, every club recognizes a Quiet Rotarian, someone who lives by the Rotary motto of “Service above Self” behind the scenes and rarely takes credit. This year, the Quiet Rotarian in each of the four clubs were:

Grass Valley: David Peeler

Nevada City: John Wilson

Penn Valley: Debbie Corbett

Grass Valley South: Mary Jane Huenergardt

Also recognized were members from each club that exemplified the very “Heart of Rotary”. This award was given by the Rotary District 5190 Governor, Roberta Pickett, from recommendations from each club. Members that were recognized from each club for this award included:

Grass Valley: Kathy Egenes

Nevada City: Cathy Wilcox-Barnes

Penn Valley: Gene Vander Plaats

Grass Valley South: Charlie Litton

“It was an honor to acknowledge the great work and contributions of these Rotarians,” explained Ms. Pickett. “We know that the greater Grass Valley/Nevada City/Penn Valley communities have benefitted richly from their service.”

The Rotary Club of 49er Breakfast will recognize their members in December.
