GRASS VALLEY, Calif. — Nevada County Library will host a special author event featuring bestselling novelist Daniel Mason as part of this year’s Nevada County Reads reading program.

The event will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Sierra College Nevada County Campus Multipurpose Center, 250 Sierra College Drive, Grass Valley, CA 95945. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Author Talk and Discussion
During the event, Mason, author of the Nevada County Reads selection North Woods, will participate in a live onstage interview conducted by Nick Wilczek, county librarian. The conversation will explore Mason’s writing process, the inspiration behind North Woods and
and the themes that have made the novel a standout selection for this year’s countywide reading program
“Programs like Nevada County Reads show the power of libraries to bring people together around literature and ideas,” said Wilczek. “We are delighted to welcome Daniel Mason and to give our community the chance to engage with the story behind North Woods.”
Following approximately one hour of conversation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a 30-minute question-and-answer session with the author.
Books and Signing Opportunity
Local independent bookstore Harmony Books will be on site selling copies of North Woods, and Mason will be available for book signings for approximately 30 minutes after the program.
The event is free and open to the public, and community members are encouraged to attend as part of the broader Nevada County Reads celebration. This program is made possible through support from the National Endowment for the Arts through the NEA Big Read initiative and is presented as part of the national America 250 celebration.
