Dance under the pines to Achilles Wheel, one of Northern California’s favorite bands; be awed and amazed by the storytelling and jugging of local favorite and world-renowned entertainer Izzi Tooinsky; catch some of the best films from the Wild and Scenic Film Festival On Tour; take in a recycled fashion show by Haute Trash; and so much more!
Activities for all ages include a rock climbing wall, inflatable obstacle course, a “Salmon-run” obstacle course, crafts, bubbles, face painting, lawn games, blender bike smoothies and more!
The event features a variety of food from local vendors and craft beer from Ol Republic, Three Forks and Auburn Ale House. Wine and a signature sangria will also be available at The Libation Station. Or for a treat, try a root beer or 50/50 float – a kid-friendly version and a spiked version for adults!
Peruse the booths of local environmental organizations and businesses, as well as local vendors peddling goods including body care products, clothing, rocks and minerals, and more.
This new annual festival is a fundraiser for Grass Valley Charter School, a unique K-8 school offering an expeditionary and adventure curriculum. “We wanted to create a brand new event that the whole community could enjoy and that shows who we are and what we stand for,” said Wendy Willoughby, President of the Grass Valley Charter School Foundation. “Blue Marble Jubilee celebrates what we love about our learning model; being good stewards of the earth and good stewards of the community.”
The students themselves are getting into the spirit of earth stewardship and community service by creating spectacular and unique outdoor art projects that will be for sale at the event.
