Grass Valley, CA- Join Sammie’s Friends at BriarPatch Food Co-op on Wed., April 8 for a free interactive community workshop that explores the vital role that enrichment plays in supporting the mental, emotional and physical well-being of dogs.

Play time in the yard for pups

“Research consistently shows that enrichment reduces stress and improves behavior in animals. We see that every day in the shelter, and this workshop is about giving our community the tools to do the same at home,” explained Sammie’s Friends Executive Director Lynn Hodson.

This session will highlight how intentional sensory engagement helps reduce pet stress, prevent behavioral challenges and promote successful transition into foster and adoptive homes. It is designed for anyone who currently has a dog, whether adopted from Sammie’s Friends or elsewhere. Participants will learn practical, accessible ways to incorporate enrichment into everyday routines, helping dogs build confidence, reduce anxiety and thrive within their home environments. Attendees will leave with tools they can implement immediately.

We love dogs, but for this class, they’ll need to sit…at home. Thanks for keeping this a people-only session!
