On June 8, the Community Asian Theatre of the Sierra (CATS) lost its beloved Artistic Director and Co-Founder, Lisa Moon, on our field trip to Manzanar and the Eastern Sierra.

CATS paid tribute to Lisa Moon at the Manzanar Memorial — the “soul consoling tower" — at the Manzanar Historic Site — one of 10 former Japanese relocation camps during WWII.

She passed away peacefully while napping on the shoulder of her husband, Jerry Chan, and was surrounded by family and friends.  We will miss her immensely.

She inspired us all with her leadership, creativity, and pursuit of excellence.  Lisa was a pillar in our community, a prominent optometrist in Grass Valley, and was Artistic Director for the past 30 years.  She was also a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to many.

Lisa Moon (left), along with Jeannie Wood, received Life Time Achievement Awards from SARTA (Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance) just three weeks before her death.
