NEVADA CITY, California – Nevada City will once again come alive for Earth Month as the 5th Annual Earth Fest Street Fair returns on Sunday, April 19, from 11am–3:30pm in the heart of downtown. This year’s event builds on the momentum of past festivals with an expanded slate of activities, a full vendor roster, and hands-on opportunities for all ages to explore sustainability in action.
More than 65 organizations, agencies, and local businesses will participate, including SYRCL, Bear Yuba Land Trust, Nevada County, the Tahoe National Forest, and Sierra Nevada Alliance. Attendees will find a wide range of eco‑friendly offerings-including a scavenger hunt, locally made goods, educational booths, and a free seed packet giveaway.
The day’s entertainment features a full schedule of live music and performances, headlined by Artemis Arthur & The Band. Visitors can also enjoy the always‑anticipated Haute Trash fashion show, where designers transform discarded materials into runway‑ready creations. Families will also find a full range of kid‑focused activities, including a bounce house, face painting, a stilt-walker with puppets, and other special performances. In addition, Sierra Streams Institute will host a panel discussion at City Hall, offering practical insights into several of our local environmental organizations.
Earth Fest remains committed to being a zero/low‑waste event. A highlight of this year’s sustainability programming is the return of the 3 Suns Farms bio‑digester demonstration unit, which converts waste into energy and nutrient‑rich char. Visitors can walk through the unit, see the process firsthand, and take home a sample. Guests are encouraged to walk or bike to the event and to bring reusable bottles, utensils, and bags.
