Nevada County, CA June 29, 2026 – The Nevada County Office of Emergency Services reminds the community that wildfires can be ignited by fireworks. Possessing, transporting, or using fireworks is illegal in Nevada County. For more details on California Firework laws and safety, please visit ReadyForWildfire.org.

Report unauthorized fireworks activity to the Nevada County Regional Dispatch Center’s non-emergency line at (530) 265-7880. If fireworks cause a fire or create an immediate emergency, call 911.
Stay ready and stay safe this holiday weekend. A few reminders:
- Do not use a lawn mower on weeds or dry grass.
- Properly dispose of cigarettes and matches.
- Avoid power equipment that creates sparks.
- Make sure no vehicle parts drag on the ground, including towing chains.
Please celebrate responsibly at the many events occurring throughout Nevada County.
East County Events
Kick-off your celebration with the annual Truckee Tradition, a free Pancake Breakfast at Truckee Fire Station 92. From 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., enjoy coffee and pancakes to support your local firefighters. Donations benefit the Truckee Firefighters Charitable Fund (TFCF) which provides scholarships to Truckee High School students who will pursue fire suppression or emergency medicine.
Lace up your running shoes and dash down Donner Pass Road in the Firecracker Mile Fun Run, hosted by Auburn Ski Club Training Center. This one-mile race starts at 9:40 a.m. at U.S. Bank and finishes downtown in front of the judgesโ stage.
For Truckee-Donner Recreation & Park District residents and homeowners, tickets for the West End Beach Fireworks Display can be purchased until July 3.
West County Events

Activities in Grass Valley start at 8 a.m. with the Annual Pancake Breakfast, at the Mill Street Plaza. The 4th of July Parade will take place in downtown Nevada City at 11 a.m. Live music and festivities begin in Downtown Grass Valley from 6 to 9 p.m. on the Mill Street Plaza. Enjoy the fireworks display above the Dorsey Drive Interchange starting at 9:30 p.m.
