Nevada City, CA – The City of Nevada City, in partnership with the Public Arts Commission, is proud to announce the opening of Hidden in Plain Sight, the newest exhibit in the City Hall Art Meets the Public (CHAMP) Gallery. The artwork features the small, yet remarkable details of Nevada City.

The Public Arts Commission and City Council will host an opening reception for Hidden in Plain Sight on Wed., Sept. 24, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. at City Hall, 317 Broad St.

This exhibit features powerful and personal works from local community members, offering unique perspectives and stories expressed through art.

“This exhibition reminds us that creativity often emerges from everyday experiences and perspectives we may overlook,” said Brittnie Neundorfer with Nevada City. “Hidden in Plain Sight shines a light on voices within our community that deserve to be seen, heard, and celebrated.”

Guests are invited to enjoy an evening of art, conversation, and connection. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. The event is free and open to the public.

The Hidden in Plain Sight exhibit will run from Sept. 2, 2025, through Dec. 31, 2025, giving visitors multiple opportunities to experience the work beyond the opening event.

The CHAMP Gallery is part of a broader public art initiative established in 2023 under Nevada City’s Strategic Plan for Vibrancy. The City Council established the Nevada City Public Arts Commission, which continues to expand access to art throughout Nevada City, fostering creativity and community engagement.
