During the Month of May the City’s certified Defensible Space Inspectors carry out inspections on all properties within City boundaries. The City is taking proactive steps to enhance Wildfire Safety for its residents and community.
These inspections are designed to be educational, assisting residents in identifying and addressing conditions that could increase their homes vulnerability in a Wildfire.
Education plays a crucial role in Wildfire Preparedness. The City is dedicated to raising awareness about the risks of wildfire and empowering residents to take necessary precautions to protect their properties. In 2023 a new Defensible Space Ordinance was introduced, Specific guidelines and requirements, such as a creation of ‘zones of protection” and an “ember Free Zone” within 0-5 ft. of structures, are outlined to help residents safeguard their homes.
