NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. February 28, 2024 – Those concerned about the strong winter storm due to hit Nevada County Thursday through Saturday are encouraged to vote early in the Presidential Primary Election.

With the March 5 Election days away, voters may return ballots now in the mail or a drop box or by stopping at Vote Centers at the Rood Center, 950 Maidu Ave., Nevada City and Truckee Town Hall, 10183 Truckee Airport Road.

No matter what the state of the weather is, the Elections Office is planning on opening six additional vote centers as scheduled on Saturday, March 2, bringing the total open to eight.

Voters will be able to vote or get questions answered at Vote Centers at:

  • Gold Miner’s Inn Ballroom, 121 Bank St., Grass Valley
  • Condon Park Love Building, 660 Minnie St., Grass Valley
  • Nevada Fairgrounds Main Event Hall, 11228 McCourtney Road, Grass Valley
  • Higgins Lions Community Center, 22490 E. Hacienda Drive, Grass Valley
  • Western Gateway Park, Buttermaker’s Cottage, 18560 Penn Valley Drive, Penn Valley
  • Tahoe Truckee Unified School District Boardroom, 11603 Donner Pass Road, Truckee

Hours at all Vote Centers are 8 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through March 4 and expand to 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Election Day March 5. The county’s ninth and final Vote Center will be open Election Day only at the North San Juan Community Center, 29190 Highway 49.

As of Feb. 27, 11,475 voters have returned ballots or about 15 percent of the county’s 75,000 registered voters.

Among the choices voters are asked to make are selections for candidates for President, U.S. Senate,
