GRASS VALLEY, Calif. April 18, 2024 – What does it take to put on a Quilt Show that displays over 232 beautiful quilts, a Country Store with 22 tables of items at bargain prices, 30 exquisite Raffle Baskets, 90 Silent Auction Items, quality vendors, delicious food, special displays, and an award-winning Featured Quilter? The answer is eight months of hard work and preparation by the dedicated quilters of our local Pine Tree Quilt Guild, a dynamic group of local artists, eager to share our skills and provide a wonderful experience for an appreciative audience.

As the main source of income to run the guild, award scholarships, and perform service to the community, our annual quilt show is something we look forward to, but it doesnโ€™t happen overnight. Each of the 30 committee chairs and their respective teams  must plan and carry out their assigned tasks, from creating the raffle baskets, planning the building layout and displays, contacting vendors, hiring quilt judges, bringing in the needed equipment, setting up the frames and hanging the quilts, and on and on and on. In addition, volunteers fill the 260 slots needed to keep things running smoothly for the two days of the show, then take everything down and clean up!

This yearโ€™s show has a special meaning because it also celebrates the 40th Anniversary of the creation of the Pine Tree Quilt Guild. We will have posters and displays throughout the buildings, commemorating our 40 years of service, quilting, and memories. We are also bringing back a very popular feature from last year, our Guild Challenge Display, where attendees have the opportunity to vote for a favorite quilt. This yearโ€™s theme is โ€œ40โ€, so there should be a wide variety of interpretations from which to choose. The Quiltersโ€™ Cafe will offer a delicious new menu along with the wonderful exhibit by Mountain Arts Quilters.

Our featured quilter, Kris Cook, will be at the show both days, sharing stories and information on her stunning creations, several of which have gone on to win First Place awards at the State Fair. Be sure to stop by her display at the main building entrance to say hello and enjoy her work.

Come and spend a day, (or two) at our lovely Quilt Show. We promise that you will be glad you did.
