GRASS VALLEY, Calif. September 1, 2017 – All kinds of music – classical organ, piano, banjo, opera, horn, guitar and more — will be performed at a fundraising concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 3, at Peace Lutheran Church, 828 W. Main St., near downtown Grass Valley.
Professional musicians from around western Nevada County will perform their favorite pieces at this Texas Hurricane Fundraising Concert. The concert is free – please, just give what you can to support relief and rebuilding efforts in the Houston, Texas, area.
The sanctuary is air conditioned, and the lot has ample parking.
Every penny of what you give will go to relief and rebuilding efforts of Lutheran Disaster Response, the outreach of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America that helps people in crisis all over the world. Local affiliates of LDR have been on the ground since last week helping people affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Please make out checks to Lutheran Disaster Response and write “Texas Hurricane” in the memo line. Or, make a donation on Peace’s secure website – just know that Paypal charges 2.2% of the transaction to process it.
Peace’s staff organist, Walt Strony, will be among the performers. Strony is a sought-after performer who has been recognized nationally.
Other musicians include Thomas Greathouse, organist and pianist for Emanuel Episcopal Church in Grass Valley. Anne Vaaler, a local music teacher and director of the Colla Voce Children’s Chorus, will sing opera.
Here’s an opportunity for people in western Nevada County to make a difference for our neighbors in the Houston area.
