Hikers are asked to stay clear from a work area and flyover zone while Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) works to rebuild the South Yuba Pipe damaged during a winter storm rockslide in eastern Nevada County.

Due to the potential for rock falls and debris and materials being ferried by industrial helicopters, PG&E is asking hikers to stay out of the zone for their safety and so as not to disrupt work.ย
The no-entry zone includes a canyon where a tributary of the South Yuba River flows between PG&Eโs Spaulding 2 powerhouse and the South Yuba River bridge.ย Signage has also been posted at access points.
PG&E is working 12-hours a day, seven days a week to restore the South Yuba Pipe by late summer or early fall. PG&E is working the extended hours and days so it can sooner restore flows in the pipe and deliver water from Spaulding Reservoir to the Nevada Irrigation District.
The work can be safely viewed from Bowman Lake Road north of the Emerald Pools.
