Nevada County, Calif. March 11, 2024 — Interfaith Food Ministry (IFM) is excited to announce the kickoff of its March Matching Campaign, aimed at raising funds and awareness to address hunger and food insecurity in Nevada County. Thanks to the generous support of compassionate donors, IFM has already secured $60,000 toward its goal. Now, the organization is calling on the community to help raise the matching $60,000.

The campaign, launched in anticipation of Easter, seeks to provide vital assistance to families struggling to make ends meet. In 2023 alone, IFM served 11,000 unique individuals who had a combined total of 97,000 visits for food. It was the largest year ever and a whopping 60% higher than 2 years ago in 2021. Many face the daunting choice between paying bills and buying food, with an average monthly income of just $1,950.

A testimonial from an IFM client reflects on the profound impact of the organization’s work: “So thankful for the hard-working, kind people, who have brought hope to our family through their generosity! Interfaith has helped us to continue to feed our family, consistently through dark, difficult times. Interfaith Food Ministry is a Blessing. We appreciate all of you enormously!!”

Every dollar donated during the March Matching Campaign will be matched, effectively doubling the impact of each contribution. Furthermore, donations support local vendors and farmers, while ensuring that nutritious groceries reach those in need. IFM’s purchasing power maximizes the value of each dollar donated, stretching resources to serve more individuals and families.

Victoria Lindsay, Marketing and Communications Manager at IFM, expressed gratitude to supporters and encouraged community members to get involved: “IFM provides such a vital resource to our community, and this is a great way to make an even bigger difference with your donation. We rely on the generosity of this wonderful community and are so thankful for all the support.”

Donations can be made online at interfaithfoodministry.org, by mail, or in person at 440 Henderson St in Grass Valley. For inquiries and further information, please contact Victoria Lindsay at VictoriaMCM.IFM@gmail.com or 530-278-8454.

IFM also encourages community members to support its mission by volunteering their time, donating clean paper and plastic grocery bags, and spreading awareness among friends and family. Volunteer Drivers are especially needed to pick up donated food from grocery stores and markets as IFM’s Food Recovery program expands to respond to SB 1383, the new law aiming to decrease food waste and divert food from the landfills.
