Nevada County, Calif. April 9, 2026 – Local News Day brings together 1,382 local newsrooms across the country to celebrate the essential role local news and information plays in our everyday lives – from helping people make informed decisions to strengthening community connection and accountability. We’re proud to be part of this inaugural celebration, but our work only matters if our communities are part of it. We invite our readers, listeners, supporters and neighbors to join us.

Stop by any time in the Community Room at the Litton Building (200 Litton Drive, Room 300) today between 9am and noon for a chat, come tell us what weโ€™re missing, what you need to know to make your life in the foothills better, or just say hello. Weโ€™ll provide coffee and snacks, you provide the feedback.

We see ourselves as a community utility, much like water or power. When the sirens go off, people donโ€™t look to social media algorithms for the truth; they look to local reporters who are breathing the same smoke they are.

Today, please do one simple thing:ย Start Local. Read a story about your town, share a fact with a neighbor, and come see us at the Litton Building.

If you don’t have time to come visit, here’s a simple form to let us know your thoughts.
