The Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation is thrilled to participate in the 20th Annual Health/Safety & Fire Preparedness Carnival on Saturday, June 7, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Rood Center. This free community event aims to provide essential health, wellness, and safety information to children, families, and seniors in a fun-filled environment.

SNMH Foundation's Read me a book

The Foundation will host a booth featuring its acclaimed Read Me A Story Program, which has been enriching young lives throughout Western Nevada County since 1998. This initiative has distributed over 65,000 free books to children up to eight years old, fostering a love for reading and family bonding. At each pediatric visit, children receive a book to encourage family reading time, ensuring they are well-prepared for kindergarten and beyond.

โ€œWe are excited to bring our Read Me A Story Program to the Carnival,โ€ said Sandra Barrington, Executive Director of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation. โ€œReading at a young age opens doors to education, imagination, and stronger family connections. This event allows us to engage with the community and promote literacy alongside important safety messages.โ€

The Carnival will feature more than 70 exhibitors across nearly three acres, including first responders, hospital personnel, and emergency service demonstrations. Attendees can enjoy a free BBQ lunch, entertainment, gifts, and interactive contests throughout the day.
