The Nevada County Fair takes place at the Nevada County Fairgrounds August 6-10 in Grass Valley, California. More than 90,000 people are expected to come to the Fair to enjoy five days of carnival rides, a concert, rodeo, monster trucks, sideshows, livestock and still exhibits, food, shopping, and more.

“There’s so much happening at the Fair this year—and the best part is, most of it’s included with your Fair admission!” says Andrew Trygg of the Nevada County Fairgrounds. “As a part of your admission ticket, you get to see more than 50 live acts, including bands and community showcases, as well as thousands of community exhibits. Plus, you get access to all the famous Treat Street food booths and other favorites.”
The Nevada County Fair features 3 stages as well as strolling acts for all-day entertainment. Visitors can enjoy live performances from local and regional acts as well as popular tribute bands and interactive magicians. The fairgrounds is also home to the historic Treat Street. In all, the Fair will feature nearly 40 different food vendors serving everything from corn dogs and bratwurst to tacos and baked potatoes. We also feature a variety of drink options, and endless dessert selections.
“Our Treat Street is filled with non-profit booths. When you go grab a bite, you’re helping a local charity in our community,” says Trygg.
One of the centerpieces of the Nevada County Fair is the rides. Butler Amusements is bringing 30 rides to the fairgrounds, including the Zipper and Alien Invasion, as well as the classics like the Carousel and Ferris Wheel.
“There are rides for every level of thrill seeker,” says Trygg. “Whether you want to spin high in the air, or you have little ones who like to slide, there is something to do for the entire family.”
The Nevada County Fair also features over 250 livestock exhibits exhibited by our local youth. The annual Fair is the culmination of their months of hard work and dedication to raise the best product they can. In addition to our livestock area, you will find several buildings displaying over 6,000 still exhibits – everything ranging from arts and collectible items to hand-sewn quilts, beautiful flowers, and baked or preserved foods.
Visitors to the Fair can upgrade their experience with tickets to the arena events. This year, the Fair is bringing in the Flying U Extreme Rodeo on Wednesday and Monster Trucks and the Rough Truck Challenge by All Star Motorsport Productions Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The biggest arena night is the Fair concert on Thursday night, featuring dual headliners William Michael Morgan and Canaan Smith plus the Kruse Brothers.
“This is the can’t-miss country concert of the year in Grass Valley,” says Trygg. “William Michael Morgan and Canaan Smith both have chart-topping hits, and the Kruse Brothers are a viral sensation who are quickly making their mark on country music.”
