Auburn, California—Karen Hull, a Nevada Irrigation District (NID) customer for 20 years, announced her re-election bid for NID Division 3 Director. The district includes Lake of the Pines, south Nevada County, and a large swath of rural Placer County. The Division 3 Director’s seat will be decided in the general election on November 5, 2024.
Hull has served on the NID board since 2020. She has an MBA and more than two decades of professional experience managing large, complex operations at UC Davis. She is also a local farmer.
In her first term, Hull delivered on her promises. NID overhauled its financial operations, developed infrastructure plans, and grew income without raising rates for three years. This term, she is focused on protecting water reliability and affordability in the face of unprecedented new challenges.
Hull notes that this is a critical time for Nevada Irrigation District and for water management in California generally. Today, our infrastructure is aging, much of it dating back 50 plus years. We need to ensure adequate water storage given changing weather patterns. And NID is facing outrageous demands from the state water board that threaten our water rights.
Hull notes, “As a former executive leader at UC Davis, I have what it takes to tackle these difficult issues. To build a resilient future, I am committed to making strategic investments in our aging infrastructure and ensuring adequate water storage while also keeping water affordable. And I will fiercely defend our water rights against state overreach.”
