Penn Valley, Calif. October 26, 2018 – A total of 96 golfers participated in Lake Wildwood’s Swing for the Cure
Golf Tournament that took place on Thursday, Oct.4. The 18-hole Women’s Golf Club – with assistance from the men’s golf groups, and the Lady Niners – produced a fun and lucrative golf event.
Swing for the Cure was an all-inclusive, charitable golf tournament, focusing on all types of cancer. Participants were encouraged to wear the color of clothing represented by the form of cancer that has touched their lives.
At the lunch following the morning tournament, the committee was happy to announce that the golfers had raised over $10,000 in donations for the new Infusion Center at Dignity Health Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. The tournament committee was led by Candy Pray and consisted of Barbara Law, Laura Marenco, Connie Berg, and Maddie Graham. Along with the committee, Candy thanked PGA Golf Professional Jim Knight for the “behind the scenes” work. The committee also thanked Lake Wildwood residents Chris and Doris Heisler, for putting the final touches on the day’s event.
“Our Infusion Center is one of the busiest areas of the hospital, handling over 9,500 infusions each year,” said Executive Director of the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, Kimberly Parker. “The new space will be much larger, with expanded services to meet our community’s growing need. While some people may need infusions on occasion, some need them every single day. The Infusion Center will be open seven days a week, offering a relaxing environment, new equipment, natural light, privacy and a view of the surrounding foothills.
Thank you to the Lake Wildwood golfing community for this generous donation.”
Lake Wildwood is known for their annual golfing fundraisers: Injured Veterans Tournament, Roots and Wings, Music in the Mountains, and now Swing for the Cure.
