Nevada County is our home, and part of our job is to help make it better. Local media should help you navigate and improve your daily life right here in western Nevada County.
We know that while the “big” news matters, the quality of your day is often defined by what happens within a two-block radius of your front door. Whether you live on a quiet street in Grass Valley or Nevada City, in Alta Sierra, Penn Valley or along the roads of unincorporated Nevada County, your hyper-local environment matters.
Thatโs why we are launching this community-focused initiative, and we need your eyes and ears.
The small stuff matters
Sometimes, the things that impact our wellbeing aren’t major policy shiftsโthey are the small, physical details of our neighborhoods.
- The Good: What makes your specific corner of the county special? Is there a neighbor who keeps the trail clear? A beautiful community garden? A street where everyone looks out for one another? We want to celebrate these local wins.
- The Fixable: We also want to hear about the small annoyances that disrupt your day. A stop sign thatโs been knocked over, a low-hanging branch obscuring a turn, or a persistent eyesore on a neighborhood cut-through.
There are things that can often be fixed quickly, if the right people know about them. By gathering these details, we hope to bridge the gap between a neighborhood problem and a community solution. If a neighbor can’t trim the branches hanging over the sidewalk or the road, maybe a FireWise community can help. If a downed or defaced sign creates a hazard, we’ll let the respective Public Works departments know.
How to Participate
We are not looking for a report on the “City of Grass Valley,” we want to hear about your street or neighborhood pocket. Let us know by filling out the form below.
