Between 15:50 pm and 5:00 pm yesterday, BLM’s lightning detection system recorded 176 strikes within the Tahoe National Forest, mostly on the Truckee Ranger District.

1,961 lightning strikes were recorded within California yesterday. The majority of strikes were along the crest of the Sierra Nevada.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento forecasts a chance for a few showers and thunderstorms mainly towards the crest from about I-80 south during Saturday afternoon.
