I wrote to the Chief Justice, but the Supreme Court gave the President immunity from illegal acts while in office. I wrote to my Congressional representative who did cast a vote against counterproductive tariffs but then switched to “no party affiliation” in an attempt to be elected in November in a different congressional district. I have no hope that a cabinet selected for personal loyalty will ever act under the twenty-fifth amendment to control the irresponsible and at times illegal actions of the President.
In the meantime, an amoral and seriously disturbed individual has our country–and now the world–careening from crisis to crisis while his personal wealth grows daily, and potential evidence of criminal complicity in sex-trafficking and child abuse is subsumed by the “shock and awe” of current events.
Immigration enforcement has swung toward brutality. Many Americans struggle to afford food and fuel. Children are killed in an unnecessary war with no exit strategy. Friendly nations are reconsidering the US as a reliable ally. Putin and Xi watch closely as restraints against their expansionist aims are loosened.

Whatcha gonna do? For me, it will be taking an important next step to help change the disastrous course of events by joining millions of concerned citizens to raise our voices at “No Kings Day” on March 28. I hope that day will bend the arc toward rationality, civility and common sense. And I hope you’ll be there too.
